    James E. Deist, 49, Boswell RD 1, died March 16, 1996, at home.  Born
  Sept. 27, 1946, in Johnstown, son of John E. and Alta (Lohr) Deist. 
  Survived by mother, Boswell RD 1; father, Johnstown; wife, the former
  Shirley Baker; children: Jennifer, Michael and Jason, all of Boswell RD 1,
  and beloved granddaughter, Kayla Mae Kimmel.  Brother of David, married to
  Sally Hay, Somerset; John, married to Helen Dantel, Duncansville; Sandra,
  wife of Terry Weaver, Boswell RD 3, the Rev. William, Bethel Park; Thomas,
  married to Sheryl Lohr, Boswell RD 1; Judith, wife of Gary Pelesky,
  Stoystown, RD 1; Paul, Boswell RD 1, and Dennis, married to Claire Cornell,
  Friedens.  Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.  Member of St.
  Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Boswell, and the Quiet Church Bowling
  League.  Also member for 24 years of Cairnbrook Local 1023, U.M.W. of A. 
  Area miner for 25 years and a 1964 graduate of the former Jenner-Boswell
  High School.  Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served as a corporal
  with the U.S. Marine Corps.  Observed 27th wedding anniversary Feb. 1,
  1996.  Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral
  Home, Main Street, Boswell.  Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of
  service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrew's Church, Pastors Clarence C.
  Moore and Michael A. Dunlap officiating.  Interment, Jenner Crossroads
  Cemetery.  Memorials to the "In-Touch" Hospice, 651 S. Center Ave.,
  Somerset, would be appreciated.
