Ralph Calvin
Welsh III, 69, of Somerset, Pa., died May 24, 2011, at Somerset Hospice
House, Somerset. Born Aug. 11, 1941 in Somerset, son of Ralph Calvin “Bud” and
Gladys Etta Marie (Albright) Welsh Jr. Preceded in death by parents, brother
Stephen J. Welsh, and sisters Denise Welsh and Nellie Wright. Survived by wife
the former Lydia Ann Glessner to whom he was married 43 years. Daughters:
Heather Martin and husband Clentin Jr. of Greensburg, Amanda Welsh of Johnstown,
grandchildren: Alex and Zoe Martin. Sisters: Diane Eversole of Cumberland, Jodi
Dick of Johnstown. Sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Barry Atchison, Charles
and Cindy Glessner. Ralph is a 1962 graduate of Somerset High School, and a
U.S. Army Veteran of Vietnam. He worked until his retirement as an activity
aide for the former Somerset State Hospital where he had 20 years of service. He
was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church,
Somerset County Artists Association, Associated Artists of Pittsburgh,
Pittsburgh Pastel Painters League, Landscape Artists International, and founder
of Casselman River Plein Painters. Former member of VVA and Somerset Kiwanis
Club. Friends received one hour prior to the service at the church which will be
conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Calvary United Methodist Church,
Somerset, with the Rev. Roger A. Peterson officiating. In lieu of flowers
contributions may be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, 239 W. Church
St., Somerset, PA 15501 or Somerset “In Touch” Hospice, P.O. Box 1173, Somerset,
PA 15501. Military rites accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard.
