ART WORKS is about to be officially open to the public. Our tentative date for our grand opening is Aug. 13, 2010. ART WORKS in Johnstown! has entered its final phase of renovations and now has more studios available for lease. ART WORKS aims to provide artists with AFFORDABLE studio space, but also provides exhibition and performance space. Studios are currently being leased for $8 sq.ft with utilities included (i.e. 200 sq.ft studio * $8 = $1600/year, $1600/12 = $133/month). Studios vary in size and can be shared. There is also ample free parking and artist can have access to the building 24/7.

ART WORKS in Johnstown! is looking for artists who:
• Are artists 21 and over
• Are emerging, mid-career and older artists
• Are serious about pursuing their art in the professional setting of a communal facility
• Primarily want to use the studio for creating art, however artists may also display and sell their art from their studio
• Are creating original art (the artwork must be the artist’s original concept and produced by the artist)

ART WORKS will be providing gallery and exhibition space, performance space, and a living green roof.

ART WORKS is also having an event over Labor Day weekend , during Cambria City’s Ethnic Fest, the event is titled The Illumination of ART WORKS, and all the art has a light-based concept to it. We have five artists secured, with an opening for that event and exhibition the evening of Aug. 26.
